Neale Smith – Founder & Organizer

Neale Smith is the Founder and Organizer of the Salt Spring Island Music & Garlic Festival.  Over the last 5 years Neale has organized many events including the Pender Harbour Garlic Festival. From 2010 through 2012 Neale organized The Pender Harbour Garlic & Music Festival. It was a great success with close to three thousand people in attendance. Valdy was there along with Joel Farard and Penny Lang in 2011.

In 2012 the small-town festival featured Roy Forbes ( aka BIM ), John Reischman, & The Breakmen.

James Cowan – Technical Director/Producer

James Cowan has been on the production team for concerts and festivals since before Y2K, and before that played in rock and roll bands touring North America. James has worked on hundreds of events, from small community events to awards shows and VIP galas to huge festivals and tours including Surrey festivals- Party For The Planet, Canada Day, Fusion Festival, Tree Lighting, Richmond World Festival, Khatsahlano, FVDED In The Park, Squamish Festival, Western Canadian Music Awards, Grey Cup, Vancouver Folk Festival, Jazz Festival, Film Festival… and many more. James has lived on Salt Spring since 2008 and has done many events and concerts on the island. He also works for BC Ambulance part time as a paramedic and does risk management for many events. When James isn’t buried in event spreadsheets or saving lives he can be found hiking, biking, kayaking, slacklining or playing epic board games with his family.
